This system is similar to what we see at airport or hotel lobbies where informational messages are displayed on large flat panel displays. In a corporate environment, the messages could be about Corporate communications, New product, Version release, New business achievement, etc.

Requirements

· Active directory environment

· AD user account E.g.: domain\corpcast (set to Password never expires and User cannot change password)

· AD group containing user accounts of all users approved to publish content (E.g.: domain\castgp)

· Share location that will be used to store master copy of the broadcast file in PPS (PowerPoint Slide Show) format. (E.g.: \\server\showshare)

· A PowerPoint presentation saved as PPS file (E.g.: powercast.pps) at \\server\showshare

· Add domain\castgp active directory group to local administrators group on each computer that will be used as broadcast system

· Configure Read (or higher) permissions for domain\corpcast account on \\server\showshare

· Configure Read + Write (or higher) permissions for domain\castgp account on \\server\showshare

· Enable automatic logon using domain\corpcast account. (Check TechNet article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315231 for detailed procedure)

· Create a batch file bcopy.bat (see example below) and copy the file to c:\broadcast\

· Create a batch file wait.bat (see example below) and copy the file to c:\broadcast\

· Create a batch file gocast.bat (see example below) and copy the file to c:\broadcast\

· Create a shortcut to C:\broadcast\bcopy.bat under Startup folder in user profile of domain\corpcast

Script example – Bcopy.bat

Echo off

Call wait.bat

Call wait.bat

Net use x: \\server\showshare

Copy x:\powercast.pps c:\broadcast

Net use x: /delete

…continue for all identified computers

User Guide (These actions should be performed by members of domain\castgp)

· Update \\server\showshare\powercast.pps as desired

· Execute gocast.bat

How it works

· Executing gocast.bat forces all broadcast computers to reboot

· Auto logon configuration will logon to the computer using domain\corpcast account

· Bcopy.bat will be executed from Startup shortcut and copy latest version of powercast.pps to c:\broadcast folder and start the Powercast.pps slide show
